Job Description
The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) is mandated by the UN General Assembly to promote socially and environmentally sustainable towns and cities. UN-Habitat is the focal point for all urbanization and human settlement matters within the UN system. This post is located in the Egypt country programme, Cairo duty station. The Incumbent will work in close collaboration with the operations team and other programme units/teams under UN-Habitat Egypt, as well as programme staff from other UN agencies, UN-Habitat Headquarters, government officials, technical advisors and experts, multilateral and bilateral donors, and civil society partners to ensure the successful implementation of UN-Habitat programmes. Under the supervision of the Country Programme Manager the incumbent will be responsible for the following tasks: br>Responsibilities
Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of assigned programmes/projects, etc.; monitors and analyzes programme/project development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions.
erforms consulting assignments, in collaboration with the client, by planning facilitating workshops, through other interactive sessions and assisting in developing the action plan the client will use to manage the change.
Coordinate with development partners, donors and UN agencies for partnership and resource mobilization towards sustainable urban development.

Assists in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies.
Ensure regular engagement and coordination are maintained with the Government of Egypt to provide policy advice and effective positioning as concerning the urban development (i.e., supporting the NUA).
Undertakes survey initiatives; designs data collection tools; reviews, analyzes and interprets responses, identifies problems/issues and prepares conclusions.
Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc.
Undertakes outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities.
Participates in or lead field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summaries, etc.
Coordinates activities related to budget and funding (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.) and prepares related documents/reports (pledging, work programme, programme budget, etc.).
Collects and analyzes data to identify trends or patterns and provide insights through graphs, charts, tables and reports using data visualization methods to enable data-driven planning, decision-making, presentation and reporting.
Ensures that requirements, background information used for data analysis are documented.
Performs other duties as required.

A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible work experience in the area of urban planning, urban policy or urban management is required. Experience in project/programme management is required. Experience in projects delivery, raising funds, negotiating with high level Government or multi-and-bilateral technical funding agencies is required. Experience in planning large urban centers, capital cities, multi-disciplinary human settlements is desirable. Working experience with the United Nations System or similar international organization is desirable. Two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in both English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is desirable.
