Job Purpose
Nominated as the "Post Holder", the Aviation Security Manager is the approved party by the ECAA to lead and manage the Air Arabia identified civil aviation security measures as per Egypt and in adherence with corresponding ECAA regulations in the Foreign States. He/she shall ensure that all security measures are implemented, communicated, assessed and complied with at all times.
Key Result Responsibilities
- Defines and develops Air Arabia's security policies and procedures and related manuals to be validated by the Chief Executive Officer all in accordance with ECAA rules and regulation pertaining to this function and in accordance with Company's overall policies, procedures and security objectives.
- Partners with Stakeholders to: review and assess the Company's assets, facilities, equipment and activities to identify security needs and threats; develops necessary security measures to eliminate risk and enhance security; implements approved measures and communicates accordingly.
- Develops/ amends the "Aircraft Operator Security Program" for Air Arabia, ensuring its compliance with the the aviation authorities (ECAA) in the respective areas of operation. Maintains a current and up-to-date "AOSP" endorsed by Senior Management prior ECAA review and acceptance.
- Evaluates, reviews and conducts inspections to encourage internal security audit and quality control practices and ensure the effectiveness of the "Aircraft Operator Security Program". Advises on and manages all security systems in use by Air Arabia ensuring the cooperation of line managers.
- Assists in the management, develops, and implements operations security standards and procedures in accordance to national/international aviation security legislations ensuring maximum security measures are taken to safeguard passengers, crew, staff and property without any compromise on those measures caused by break-down of Air Arabia's Security Management System.
Key Result Responsibilities - Continued
- Manages the selection, performance and evaluation of the right manpower to deliver standardized and approved security measures for Air Arabia in Egypt and Foreign States; ensures the availability of competent security officers, to manage the security checks as per adopted procedures at all times.
- Creates "Cultural Awareness" of the set of security measures and standards approved for the Company through initiating and managing "Awareness Campaigns" and through educating security staff and all other employees on how to implement those measures and adhere to corresponding regulations.
- Initiates and manages additional security measures during periods of increased risk and/or for specific flights and routes as needed whilst maintaining familiarity with applicable aviation security-related legislations and regulations in all the geographic areas operated by Air Arabia.
- Ensures an effective risk analysis, threat assessment and response capability; develops, publishes and records policies to counter the threats and risks in accordance with International Governmental requirements and advises managers on implementation accordingly.
- Investigates criminal activities and malpractice whilst maintaining records of the same and of any un-authorized weapons or suspect explosive devices detected on Air Arabia aircraft or on property used by Air Arabia.
Qualifications (Academic, Training, Languages)
- Bachelor degree in Management/Aviation or equivalent; alternately a diploma or certificate in the related field from a recognized university or institute combined with needed experience and exposure.
- Must have attended Appropriate Government/ IATA Aviation Security Course for Security Managers.
- Must have completed investigations/Interview techniques courses including techniques in detection of forged travel documents and passengers profiling.
- Skilled report writing is required to ensure that complex reports are properly and clearly described.
- Professional membership of associations related to the Aviation/Airlines industry is a plus.
- Project Management certificate or alternately the proven corresponding working experience is a must.
- Cost Control, Compliance, Audit and Quality Assurance certificates and trainings are an added value.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Work Experience
- 7+ years' of experience in the Aviation/Airlines industry, 5 years of which in Aviation Security in a similar capacity; 3 years at least in the training field is required for this role.
- A sound knowledge of Government Immigration Acts, Police & Criminal Evidence Acts.
- Has extensive exposure on CAA particularly ECAA; familiar with all rules and regulations of ECAA pertaining to the Aviation Security , policies, procedures, manuals, etc.
- Good exposure on investigation procedures.

To conduct assigned flights in accordance with the detailed provisions of the Airline Operational Manual and in compliance with the respective civil aviation authority-related regulations. He/she must ensure ultimate safety, security, and efficiency are achieved throughout all operated flights; supports and guide the flight/cabin crew, handle emergencies and ad-hoc scenarios effectively, and take control over the flight to ensure successful performance and positive corporate image
Key Result Responsibilities
- Flies the assigned aircraft from one destination to another in accordance with the given schedules and approved flight plans; carries his/her duties and acts as the ultimate responsible for the aircraft during the assigned flights taking into account the following key factors, in order of priority:
i. Safety
ii. Efficiency
iii. Passenger comfort
- Ensures that assigned flights are conducted in accordance with the detailed provisions of the Airline's Operations Manual and regulations. At all times, implements, monitors and maintains the procedures necessary to ensure the safe and smooth operation of the aircraft undertaken.
- Ensures timely attendance, proper grooming, fitness and legality of self and Flight Crew for the assigned flights. Conducts pre- flight "Briefing" to ensure members are acknowledged with flight details; continuously ensures briefing is properly done prior to each action as per the adopted procedures.
- Liaises with co-pilots (First Officer and Second Officer) and Dispatch Team prior to each flight ensuring flight/cabin crew members are well prepared and provided with required information, this includes aircraft technical status, route preferences, weather, fuel, weight, distribution of roles, etc.
- Ensures, within the safety constraints as detailed in the relevant sections of the Airline's Operations Manual, that the aircraft is flown so as to make most efficient and effective use of fuel during the flight.
- Ensures the required safety, security, fuel, and transit checks are carried for each flight by the Flight/Cabin assigned crew members before, during and post each flight. Takes necessary action and directs the crew on how to react in case of safety or security irregularities; decides on escalations if needed.
- Cooperates with the Maintenance Engineers to confirm the aircraft technical status and ensure its suitability to fly; seeks the support of MCC and MROs to raise possible concerns and identify any defects or technical issues; implements the rectification or corrective measure immediately where applicable.
- Makes sure all the needed documents and technical logs are loaded with necessary accurate data as per the Airline and civil aviation authority regulations and adopted procedures. This includes the technical logbook, journey book, boarding sheets, reports, etc.
- Ensures that the Airline Operations Manual is distributed, accounted for, maintained, kept up to date, understood and complied with by Flight Crew.
- Keeps himself/herself up-to-date with the legal requirements of the different regulatory bodies such as, civil aviation authority, Airbus Company and any other relevant regulatory body relating to flights and Flight Crew.
- Undertakes additional, ground based tasks such as Safety Officer or Security Officer, as directed by the line manager and in accordance with the provisions of Part A of the Airline's Operations Manual.
Qualifications (Academic, Training, Languages)
- Appropriate ATPL License is a must.
- He/she must pass the technical/psychometric assessment for Pilots as per the Airline and respective civil aviation authority standards.
- He/she must pass the Medical Fitness check-up carried for the Pilots as per the Airline and respective civil aviation authority standards.
- Training in safety and emergency response is essential – a formal qualification is an advantage.
- Basic Airport, security procedures and regulations training is an advantage.
- Crew Resources Management Training is considered an advantage.
- IATA principles & standards relating to security is an advantage.
- Proficient in Aircraft systems, proficient in Microsoft Office
- Very good in written and verbal communication skills, Technical reports writing, presentations, etc.
