Job Description
CTO-Track | Cairo-based with global reach
About Us
Oney-d is a strategic data and AI consultancy built to serve ambitious organizations across MENA and the US.
We help growth-minded organizations transform data and AI into intelligent, scalable growth. Our mission is to design strategy, build systems, and strengthen teams to turn data into a lasting competitive edge.
As a Cairo-based firm with global reach, we combine deep technical expertise with business fluency—and we're building a high-performing, cross-cultural team that reflects that balance.
We're now hiring our first
Technical Delivery Lead / Founding Engineer
—a systems builder who wants to shape not just projects, but the future of our company. At Oney-d, you won't just follow a playbook — you'll help write it.
About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to be the first senior engineering hire at a fast-growing consultancy with product ambitions. You'll architect and deliver the systems behind Oney-d's client projects and our emerging data+AI platform:
- From messy, multi-source data ingestion to structured warehouses.
- From document parsing and language models to APIs and services.
- From quick prototypes to reliable, scalable production systems.
You'll be an architect, a builder, and a thought partner: evaluating technologies from first principles, shaping our internal IP, and setting the foundation for a team you'll help hire and lead. This role can grow into either a
CTO path
or a
General Manager of Delivery path
, depending on your strengths and ambitions.
What You'll Do
- Design and build
end-to-end data systems
for ingesting, transforming, storing, and serving information. - Develop and deploy
backend services and APIs
that are reliable and scalable. - Prototype and integrate
document parsing and natural language processing pipelines
, including applications of large language models. - Evaluate and make
first-principles decisions
about technologies—balancing cloud platforms (Google Cloud, AWS, Azure) with open-source options. - Keep on top of the
evolving data and AI landscape
and bring a clear perspective on what's worth adopting. - Set up and manage
automated testing, version control, and deployment practices
that ensure smooth, reliable releases. - Design with
security, scalability, and maintainability
in mind from the start. - Build and document
reusable components and frameworks
that can be turned into long-term intellectual property. - Represent engineering in client engagements—leading technical conversations in
Arabic
and collaborating internally in
English
. - Recruit, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team.
You Might Be a Fit If You…
- Have 6–10 years of experience as a
backend, full-stack, or systems engineer
, ideally with exposure to
data-heavy products
. - Are fluent in
English (spoken and written)
and
Arabic (spoken and written)
—and comfortable operating professionally in both. - Write production-grade code in
Python
plus at least one other backend language such as Go, Java, C#, or Rust. - Have worked with
distributed or event-driven systems
(for example, messaging queues or pub/sub architectures). - Understand how to manage
cloud infrastructure
(Google Cloud preferred, but AWS or Azure also relevant) and use tools to automate infrastructure setup. - Care about
clean software architecture, testing, and long-term maintainability
. - Are comfortable working in
greenfield environments
—building quickly when needed, then refactoring for scale. - Want to help shape a company's technical foundation and culture, not just deliver short-term projects.
Bonus Experience
- Building analytics or AI-driven products from scratch.
- Experience with frameworks for working with large language models.
- Containerization and orchestration (such as Docker or Kubernetes).
- Creating developer tools, documentation, or improving developer experience.
- Leading small engineering teams or mentoring junior developers.
Why Join Us
- Strategic seat at the table
– Build alongside the founder, not under layers of management. - CTO track
– A clear path to set the technical vision and culture of a cross-border company. - Impact, fast
– Your code and decisions will directly shape both client success and our long-term product. - Cross-cultural exposure
– Operate in English and Arabic across MENA and the US. - Balanced culture
– Ambition without burnout. Excellence without ego.
