Job Purpose
Supporting teachers inside and outside the classroom in order to ensure a safe, productive and clean environment for the students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Keep a record of children’s attendance and deliver attendance form to the office.
- Make class displays, games and visual materials following the teacher’s direction; written or drawn bulletin boards that correspond with topics and class work.
- Put up / take down displays.
- Reinforce class/school rules and behavior.
- File notes into children’s reading folders and check folders every morning for notes.
- Keep all shelves tidy and wipe clean once a month; overall tidiness and cleanliness of the classroom.
- Support class teacher during the lesson by keeping children focused and attentive.
- Assist teacher with correcting of children’s work.
- Listen to children read their word cards.
- Preparation for activities and cleaning up when work is finished. Clean up after art lesson as well as prepare equipment for such lessons.
- Prepare and clean up after snack. Wipe tables, wash cups and plates.
- Assist with lunch get food from counter, supervise children while eating and cleaning up.
- Supervise toilet and hygiene: remind them to flush toilet, wash their face and hands, etc. if the children have an ‘accident’, the assistant will help the child change their clothing.
- Supervise outdoor play.
- Supervise nap or quiet time: children are to be quiet and resting if they are not sleeping.
- Accompany students to the kindergarten in the morning and assist with Morning Care supervision.
Ideal Requirements:

Responsible to: Director of Sport, Head of Secondary and Head of Primary
Qualifications: Degree, relevant experience, proficiency in English in speaking, understanding and
writing
Experience: Experience of working with children within an educational environment.
Working hours:
- Full time;
- To be in school by 7.30 am until 3.30 pm, 4pm on staff meeting days and 3pm on a Thursday;
- To contribute to a minimum of 2 ECA’s per week as paid overtime
- To attend relevant staff meetings and other professional school-related activities, including
those outside normal working hours, as required or directed by line managers.
KEY DUTIES OF THE ROLE:
A. Safeguarding and Health and Safety Duties

- to be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
within the school;

- assist with the supervision of pupils during lessons, including before and after school and at

teaching and learning;
- to provide general support to the class teacher in the management and organisation of the
pupils, learning spaces and equipment;
- to assist the PE department teachers in creating and maintaining a purposeful, positive,
proactive and supportive learning environments;
- to carry out administration work as directed by PE department teachers.
D. Collaborate with teachers in planning and delivering lessons
- to plan quality teaching and learning alongside the class teacher and wider department;
- to attend planning meetings and staff meetings as directed and required;
- within an agreed system of supervision, to facilitate learning during short periods of absence of
- the class teacher;
- as identified on planning and in discussions of learning activities, support with the organisation
- of equipment and resources necessary to facilitate learning.
- E. Adapt support to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils
- to promote the inclusion of all pupils ensuring they have equal access to opportunities to learn
- and develop;
- to identify the students on the inclusive learning register and pastoral register and to work with
the inclusion and pastoral teams to understand the identified needs and how to fully support
