SAP Project System (PS) Consultant

Job Summary

The SAP PS Consultant is responsible for the implementation, configuration, and support of the SAP Project System module to enable effective project planning, execution, monitoring, and financial control. The role ensures integration of PS with FI/CO, MM, SD, and other modules to support end-to-end project lifecycle management, particularly for capital projects, internal projects, and customer projects.

The consultant works with project management and finance stakeholders to streamline budgeting, resource planning, cost tracking, and revenue recognition.

Key Process Knowledge

The consultant must demonstrate expertise in:

  • Project Structures – Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Networks, Activities, Milestones.
  • Budgeting & Cost Planning – project budgets, forecasts, version management.
  • Project Execution & Monitoring – actual cost tracking, confirmations, status management.
  • Billing & Revenue – resource-related billing, milestone billing, revenue recognition.
  • Integration with FI/CO, MM, SD, PP – cost allocation, procurement, and settlement.
  • Reporting & Analytics – project progress, cost analysis, earned value management.
  • Investment Management (IM) – capital project planning and asset capitalization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Configure and support SAP Project System to manage full project lifecycles.
  • Design WBS and network structures tailored to business requirements.
  • Implement budgeting, planning, and forecasting processes for projects.
  • Support project procurement and material requirements via MM/PP integration.
  • Enable revenue recognition and billing through SD/CO integration.
  • Manage settlements to assets under construction (AUC) and fixed assets.
  • Develop PS reports, dashboards, and KPIs for project monitoring.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal project governance.
  • Provide end-user training, documentation, and UAT support.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Finance, or IT.
  • SAP Certified Application Associate – SAP Project System (PS) preferred.

Experience

  • 5–8 years of SAP PS consulting experience.
  • At least 2 full-cycle implementations in SAP Project System.
  • Strong knowledge of integration with FI/CO, MM, SD, and Asset Accounting.
  • Experience in capital projects, internal orders, and investment management.

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Expertise in WBS, networks, milestones, and project budgeting.
  • Hands-on experience with cost planning, revenue recognition, and settlement.
  • Knowledge of Results Analysis (RA) and reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA PS capabilities.

Soft Skills
