The Role: What You'll Do

As a Research Assistant (AI/ML Energy Applications), you will be proposing, designing, implementing, and evaluating machine-learning components that integrate with energy models and decision workflows, producing evidence-backed prototypes, and co-authoring top-tier scientific publications.

Your Responsibilities

·   Develop and evaluate AL and ML models for forecasting, anomaly detection, surrogate modeling, and (where relevant) geospatial and structured text (NLP) pipelines tied to energy use-cases.

·   Implement reproducible pipelines (data preprocessing → training → backtesting → reporting) with version control, experiment tracking, and documented validation.

·   Integrate ML components with energy-modeling toolchains to produce decision-ready outputs with clear assumptions, limitations, and uncertainty statements.

·   Contribute to research proposals (methodology/work packages) and co-author scientific publications.

·   Produce documentation, notebooks, and internal handover materials that enable internal cross-functional collaboration.

Position Overview:

The Research Manager will lead ATR's research and data analytics function, delivering deep market, customer, and competitor insights that drive strategic decisions. This role is responsible for transforming data into actionable strategies that support commercial growth, market expansion, and competitive positioning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of the annual research agenda aligned with business goals.
  • Manage all qualitative and quantitative research initiatives (internal & external).
  • Analyze and interpret data from various sources: market intelligence, POS, consumer feedback, competitor activity, etc.
  • Deliver insightful reports and strategic recommendations to support marketing, sales, and commercial teams.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and translate business needs into impactful studies.
  • Prepare dashboards, visual summaries, and executive-level presentations.
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of external research vendors.
  • Propose proactive research initiatives to tap into new market opportunities and underdeveloped segments.
  • Monitor and assess market trends, category evolution, and competitive moves.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of a centralized research insights repository.
  • Review data collection tools (e.g., surveys, interview guides) to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Stay up to date with emerging research technologies such as AI analytics and digital behavior tracking.
  • Build and maintain an agile analytical database integrating internal and external data.
  • Train internal teams (e.g., sales and field ops) on how to utilize research insights effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy laws (e.g., GDPR) and internal governance protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification or certification in Market Research or Business Intelligence is a strong plus.
  • 8+ years of experience in Market Research, Consumer Insights, or Data Analytics, preferably within the FMCG, personal care, or distribution sectors.
  • Proficiency in research tools such as SPSS, Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills in both Arabic and English.
