bp has a long history of oil exploration and production in Iraq. The Rumaila oilfield is Iraq’s largest producing field and the third largest oil field in the world. It is currently operated by ROO (Rumaila Operating Organization). Rumaila, Iraq’s greatest natural asset, is undergoing significant transformation to maximize production for the long-term future.
This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to join the agile, fast-paced and exciting integrated P&O subsurface squad that provides support to the in-country teams, in areas of Production Management, Depletion Management and Area Development Planning. The subsurface squad forms part of the Rumaila Support Team (RST).

**About the role**:
The role can be based in Sunbury, Aberdeen, Cairo, Baku, or Luanda with occasional need for international travel.
Key Accountabilities:
- Maintain the reservoir performance prediction toolkit for the Zubair reservoirs
- Conducts reservoir simulation studies to evaluate depletion optimisation initiatives and make recommendations to maximise near and long term oil recovery
- Zubair SPA in GSS-led in-depth reservoir studies, facilitating knowledge sharing and providing guidance as/when required
- Provide reservoir engineering support to the ongoing NWD campaign
- Owns the Zubair subsurface uncertainty and risk management plans
- Owns the reservoir surveillance strategy and works closely with RMT squad to influence the surveillance planning, acquisition and analysis activity
- Proactively develop and maintain reservoir performance management tools.
- Support the technical development of less experienced engineers, both in Sunbury and Iraq, and provide coaching in areas of specialism. Support the long-term goal of growing the capability of the Iraqi subsurface organisation.
- Stakeholder Management - present reservoir engineering workfronts and findings to internal and external stakeholders.
**About you**:
Essential Education:
- BSc / MSc degree in Petroleum/ Reservoir Engineering or related applied science engineering
Essential Experience:
- 10 or more years of relevant technical experience
- Reservoir simulation, well and area performance management, depletion planning and reservoir management
- Experience with analytical / numerical RE toolkit (Saphir, PETEX IPM, Nexus)
- Excellent communication and influencing skills
- Able to manage multiple activities and quickly respond to changing business priorities
- Able to cope with short-term deadlines and flexible prioritization
- Stakeholder management experience
Desirable Experience:
- Waterflood management experience.
- Data analytics experience.
- Surveillance planning and analysis experience.
- Working experience with carbonate oilfield management.
- Skilful reservoir simulation competency level.
- Experience working in non-operated business environments.
