Job Overview

Infrastructure Engineer to own and operate the organization's server, application, and systems infrastructure. The role focuses on Linux system administration, application server (WebLogic/OHS/Tomcat) management, portal/web server operations, backup & restore, monitoring, capacity planning and close collaboration with DBAs and application teams.

Key Responsibilities

Linux Administration & Maintenance:
Install, configure, harden and maintain Linux servers (RHEL/CentOS/Oracle Linux/Ubuntu). Apply OS patches, kernel tuning and security best practices. Manage user accounts, groups and permissions.

Application Server & OHS Administration:

Deploy, configure and maintain application servers such as Oracle WebLogic, Oracle HTTP Server (OHS), Tomcat, and other middleware. Handle application deployments, JVM tuning, thread pools and troubleshooting. Administer web/portal platforms and web servers (Apache, Nginx, OHS). Ensure website availability, SSL/TLS management, load balancing and high availability configurations.

Backup & Restore / Disaster Recovery:
Design, operate and validate backup and restore procedures. Coordinate disaster recovery drills and maintain runbooks.

Batch Jobs & Scheduling:
Manage and monitor scheduled jobs and batch processes; ensure on-time completion and troubleshoot failures

Monitoring & Capacity Planning:
Implement and operate monitoring tools; respond to alerts, perform capacity planning and forecasting for CPU, memory, storage and network resources.

Performance & Troubleshooting:
Diagnose performance problems across OS, application server and network layers; collaborate with application owners and DBAs to resolve root causes.

Automation & Configuration Management:
Use scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform) to automate deployments, configuration and repeatable tasks.

Security & Compliance:
Apply security hardening, manage patching cycles, collaborate with security team on vulnerability remediation and maintain audit-ready documentation.

Documentation & Runbooks:
Maintain up-to-date runbooks, architecture diagrams, change logs and operational procedures.

Collaboration:
Work closely with Database Administrators, Application/BI teams (OBIEE support at infra level), network and security teams for integrated solutions.

On-call & Incident Management:
Participate in on-call rotation and follow incident management procedures to meet SLAs.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong experience with Linux server administration (RHEL/CentOS/Oracle Linux/Ubuntu).
• Experience managing application servers (Oracle WebLogic, Tomcat, OHS) and deployments.
• Solid knowledge of web servers and proxy/load balancers (Apache, Nginx, F5 or HAProxy concepts).
• Backup/restore technologies and DR planning experience.
• Monitoring and alerting tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus + Grafana, or similar).
• Virtualization and hypervisor experience (VMware, Hyper-V) and basic cloud exposure (AWS, Azure) — desirable.
• Scripting and automation: Bash + at least one higher-level language (Python, Perl) and IaC tools (Ansible, Terraform) — desirable.
• Basic networking understanding (routing, switching, DNS, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS).
• Familiarity with authentication systems (LDAP/AD), and security controls.
• Experience supporting enterprise applications and integration with databases (coordinate with DBAs).

Experience

• Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure or system administration for mid-level roles; 6+ years for senior roles.
• Demonstrated experience supporting production-critical enterprise systems.
