About the Opportunity:

The Occupational Nurse is responsible for supporting the health and wellbeing of employees at the workplace in compliance with Egyptian Labor Law 14/2025 (Articles 269 & 270). The role ensures timely medical attention, preventive healthcare, and coordination with external medical services to maintain a safe and healthy working environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Medical Support & First Aid

  • Provide first aid and emergency care for employees on-site.
  • Maintain an equipped first aid room/clinic within the facility.
  • Ensure availability of prescribed medicines and treatment supplies.

2. Compliance with Egyptian Law (Art. 269 & 270)

  • Conduct medical checks of employee health complaints as the facility's designated medical representative.
  • Coordinate with the General Health Insurance Authority for periodic medical examinations of all employees.
  • Maintain an updated list of employees needed with medical provider
  • Support early detection of occupational diseases and health risks associated with the nature of work.
  • Ensure provision of nursing services for facilities employing 50+ workers per site, in line with legal requirements.
  • Assist the contracted occupational physician in carrying out required medical duties.
  • Handle employees requests with regard to medical approvals, cash reimbursement, chronic requests, etc.
  • Initiating requests for lost insurance cards and sending replacement requests

3. Preventive & Occupational Health

  • Promote workplace health, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Train employees on basic occupational health practices (e.g., hygiene, ergonomics, preventive care, manual handling techniques).
  • Support Health & Safety campaigns and awareness programs.

4. Recordkeeping & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and confidential medical records for employees.
  • Prepare periodic reports on health incidents, medical consultations, and preventive measures.
  • Report medical findings or risks to management and escalate cases requiring specialist medical intervention.
  • Report on monthly basis sick leaves, employees requests, etc as needed

Requirements:

  • Licensed Nurse certified by the Ministry of Health in Egypt.
  • 1-3 of professional nursing experience (preferably in occupational/industrial health).
  • Knowledge of Egyptian Labor Law 14/2025 requirements for workplace medical coverage.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work with, encourage and influence IM staff, their clients and contractors.
  • Computer literacy for recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • English language verbal and written skills essential
  • Ability to respond to medical emergencies outside regular working hours

TEAM/PROGRAMME: PATHWAYS Project

LOCATION: Upper Egypt Field Office- Minya (One in Minya and one in Assiut).

GRADE : 4

CONTRACT LENGTH: Fixed Term contract and the position is subject to donor approval.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Health Officer will support the implementation and monitoring of adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH) interventions across primary health care facilities and communities under the PATHWAYS project. Working under the supervision of the Senior Health Officer, they will contribute to the system strengthening work, as well as community engagement and training activities to promote and deliver quality, gender-responsive, adolescent-friendly, and safe SRHR services in line with national guidelines and Save the Children standards.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Project Senior Health Officer.

Budget Responsibilities: No

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

Project Implementation and Coordination

  • Support the implementation of PATHWAYS project activities related to adolescent SRHR at the community and facility levels.
  • Collaborate with health workers and PHC teams to ensure adolescent-friendly andgender-responsive SRH and SGBV case management services, including referrals.
  • Conduct regular visits to assigned PHC facilities to monitor the implementation of adolescent- and gender-responsive SRHR services
  • Collaborate with PHC providers and community actors to identify service delivery gaps and follow up on action plans
  • Support capacity-strengthening efforts through training, coaching, and coordination.
  • Provide supportive supervision and on the job coaching to PHC staff and CHWs following capacity-building sessions
  • Participate in district-level technical meetings, workshops, and health coordination events as delegated.

Planning and Reporting

  • Contribute to the development of weekly, monthly, and quarterly work plans in coordination with the project team.
  • Contribute to joint planning and review meetings with PHC teams and district health authorities.
  • Prepare and submit timely progress reports, field updates, and documentation as required by the project.

Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL):

  • Collect and compile project data using standardized tools and ensure timely reporting to the Senior Health Officer and MEAL team.
  • Use quality benchmarks to assess service delivery at PHC and community levels to ensure quality, gender-responsive, adolescent-friendly, and safe service delivery.
  • Support documentation of lessons learned, success stories, and case studies related to ASRH interventions.

Partnership and Capacity Building:

  • Assist in coordinating and co-facilitating training sessions for health workers, CHWs, and peer educators on adolescent-friendly services and SGBV response.

  • Support local partners in planning and executing community-level SRHR activities, ensuring adherence to Save the Children guidelines and policies, and to project SOPs

  • Build and maintain good relationships with district health officers, PHC staff, and community leaders to support local buy in and ownership, and to ensure sustainability of SRHR interventions.

Other Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with Save the Children's policies and procedures, including child safeguarding, gender equality, and code of conduct.

  • Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the Senior Health Officer or Project Manager in support of the project.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree health/medical related field.

  • Familiarity with adolescent-friendly SRHR approaches, gender-responsive services, or gender-based violence response is an asset.

  • Basic experience in data collection and activity reporting.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Commitment to upholding adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights, including gender equality and youth participation.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Job Description

Context

Under the overall supervision of the Medical Programme Coordinator and direct supervision of the National Migration Health Project Officer, the Health Project Assistant will be tasked with assisting in the implementation of the health assistance projects to migrants, within the Migration Health Division (MHD) – H2.

Responsibilities: 1. Contribute to establishing and/or maintaining strong and regular contacts with Government entities, civil society organizations, UN agencies, donors and other stakeholders pertaining to the Medical Assistance projects and MHU programmes.

2. Assist in exploring and identifying new project opportunities related to the IOM Egypt Strategy, government and partners' needs, donors' priorities and migrants' context and situation.

3. Support the coordination, planning and implementation of health projects' activities with focus on health assistance provision to most vulnerable categories as victims of trafficking, children, and vulnerable migrants.

4. Keep abreast of best practices relating to health promotion and health service provision to vulnerable migrants.

5. Assist in monitoring and evaluating all project aspects, according to IOM standards & procedures as well as donor requirements/standards.

6. Monitor implementing partners as healthcare providers and referral partners.

  1. Provide inputs to project reports and updates and assist in ensuring proper information exchange on all operational aspects of MHU projects between IOM, donors and other project counterparts.
  2. Facilitate payments for health services provided through direct relationships with hospitals for effective admissions.
  3. Support all administrative, operational, and logistical tasks related to training sessions, roundtables and events with beneficiaries, civil society organizations, embassies, and other relevant stakeholders, Writing related reports.
  4. Participate at seminars, meetings and events aimed at promoting IOM's image and activities.
  5. Provide unofficial interpretation English-Arabic/Arabic-English at bilateral or multilateral meetings and other events (seminars, workshops, etc.); draft and translate documents (minutes, reports, notes for file, agenda, concept notes) when requested.
  6. Support the development of new migration health projects and concept notes and following up with funding applications and donors.
  7. Conducting health awareness sessions along with the migration health division team to vulnerable migrants on different health topics.
  8. Perform such other duties as may be assigned including duty travels if required.

Qualifications: Education

Completed university degree from an accredited academic institution in Public health, Medicine, or related field with 3 years of experience

Secondary degree with 5 years of experience

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database .

Experience

Two years' experience in organizing events, such as training, workshops, awareness raising

campaigns, etc. and producing pertaining documentation.

Sound knowledge of Humanitarian Medical assistance is an advantage.

Sound knowledge of healthcare, financial and administrative management is an advantage.

Experience in IOM administrative and financial management, budget monitoring, cash management and internal control procedures.

Experience in the usage of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and knowledge of spreadsheet and data analysis.

Skills

In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; and

Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.

Knowledge of project management.

Languages

For all applicants, fluency in English and Arabic is required (oral and written).
