- 3 months (extendible 6 months)**BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT**:

- The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are seeking to engage a national design engineer or architect, based in our Regional Bureau in Cairo, Egypt.
- The role will involve managing all day-to-day activities related to the country office design and construction projects with focus on design review, construction supervision, reporting etc. They will work with and report to the Head of Unit or designated International Engineer or architect as part of the Management Services Unit, in the Facilities & Infrastructure team.
- The Civil Engineer or Architect should have experience in design, construction and supervision of building refurbishment. Knowledge and experience of national (international desirable) construction contract law; and FIDIC or related construction contract formats is considered as a plus.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Following Circular OED2014/015 and Directive RM2015/004, the Civil Engineer or architect shall report to the International Civil Engineer in Egypt, or other staff member designated by the Head of Project Unit and shall take technical direction from the Chief Engineer and WFP Engineering in HQ, in relation to all aspects of, construction and contract management of the infrastructure projects, as required. The duties shall include but are not limited to the following:
**Engineering duties**

1. Support in the supervision of engineering projects.
3. Develop remedial plans to ensure suitability to operational purposes, safety, and efficiency of structures and equipment in line with WFP policies, criteria and standards.
4. Provide technical support while working with design consultants and other relevant parties.
5. Prepare accurate and timely reporting on outputs to facilitate informed decision-making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
6. Perform other duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED**:
**Education: A **First University degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture with a specialization or Postgraduate qualifications is desirable.
**Experience**:Minimum 3 years of relevant experience at increasing levels of responsibility.
Experience in engineering design.

**Knowledge & Skills**:

- Good communication skills.
- Good knowledge and experience of techniques, instrumentation, and software packages.
- knowledge and experience in design, planning, and supervision of construction

projects.
- Good knowledge of local and international engineering and construction standards, processes, and norms.
- Desirable knowledge of engineering contract formats, modalities, and obligations. Knowledge of FIDIC forms of contracts is desirable.
- Good knowledge of project supervision processes and techniques.

**Languages**: Fluency (level C) in English is mandatory.
Intermediate knowledge (level B) of another official UN language is considered an advantage.

No appointment under any kind of contract will be offered to members of the UN Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions (ACABQ), International Civil Service Commission (ICSC), FAO Finance Committee, WFP External Auditor, WFP Audit Committee, Joint Inspection Unit (JIU) and other similar bodies within the United Nations system with oversight responsibilities over WFP, both during their service and within three years of ceasing that service.

Job Description

**Role Purpose**:
Vodafone Business Platforms & Solutions IoT Practice is primarily focused in delivering high quality solutions for Enterprise customers. The IoT area consists of multiple teams which are directly responsible for delivering an excellent customer experience. The teams provide expert support to internal and external stakeholders and drives the delivery and support for all IoT Customer solutions
This role will be accountable for leading the Service Continuity area by example and providing a step change in order to extend/complete an excellent end to end customer experience aligned with the Vodafone brand and industry best practises. Key focus will be to support the Build and in-life of IoT product portfolio by means of providing Site Reliability Engineering and assure cost-to-serve standards and service operating models based on continuous improvement and right sourcing at worldwide level. The Role requires a strong technical authority in both IT and Telco environments.
The role will work with internal and external suppliers; it is required to fully understand partner/customer services and relationships and map them to customer value strategies and develop appropriate service model designs.

**Key accountabilities and decision ownership**:

- Operational support of IoT products that in turn generate the revenue targets defined up to 1.0 Billion Euro per year.
- Drive Team’s Engineering activities within IoT multiple domains
- Responsibilities to ensure that operationally driven changes and upgrades are correctly designed and deployed
- Influence Customer, suppliers and third parties to improve development.
- Production baselining, tracking progress and day-to-day delivery management of plans and all project deliverables for agreed launch dates
- Management of communications & engagement with Vodafone OpCos/Partners/Affiliates, Group Technology and Marketing, Testers and external parties relating to the new platform features, releases and patches.
- Management of day to day contact with third party System Integrator and internal suppliers.
- Review and assess supplier quotes for work-packages/releases and support contracts.
- Manage relationships and delivery through 3rd party suppliers and internal organizations.
- Strong leadership skills and proven ability to manage several conflicting priorities to resolution in agreed timescales
- Build and deliver Development plan for SRE Team resources.
- Steer communication and plans across Technology and Business SLT.

**Must have technical / professional qualifications**:

- University degree, with preference on technology (engineering, telecommunications, computer science)
- 10+ years of experience in leading Customer services or operational services Teams within IT /Telecom industries
- Experience in operating in Agile environment
- Software development background
- Multi-national team leadership experience and proven ability to operate within a matrix organisation.
- Experience in consulting and/or services design,
