**Open Position**:We are looking for an Engineering Manager (M/F/d) to join our growing technology team.
In this position you will lead two to three cross functional product teams and report directly to our CTO/CDO. This is a full-time position of significant responsibility where you will provide technical direction, coaching and ongoing leadership for your teams on site in Berlin and remotely.

**Responsibilities**:

- You are an active part of the Technology Leadership team setting the technical direction, encouraging the team to innovate and invent
- You lead several Team Leads as your direct reporting line towards success of their agile squads
- You work together with our Product Management Team translating product and business vision into technical language

**Qualifications**:

- You have been leading a cross functional team as Engineering manager at least for 3 years
- You are an experienced software engineer for 5+ years developing high performance, stable, and scalable software

You can lead development from initial concept through production and understand technological concepts, as well as be hands on on some topics when needed Your engineering experience is based specially on backend and infrastructure technologies - Java and AWS

This Engineering Project Management role requires versatile and technical individuals to deliver impactful results within :
- Multiple Business segments: The role will support Amazon fulfillment centers (FC), delivery stations (DS), sort centers (SC), sub-same day (SSD), and darkstores.
- Different Project types: The role will support both new launches (Greenfield), as well as retrofit of our existing buildings (Brownfield).
- Wide project scope: The scope for this role is focusing on automation technologies (conveyance, sortation), Good-lifts (VRC) and Storage solutions.
- E2E Project lifecycle: This role will support End-to-End project lifecycle for the above mentioned systems. From Solutions to Go-Live, including concept design, budget request, vendor selection, detailed engineering, planning, execution, qualification.
During pre-execution phase, the PM is expected to lead the design and technology development; understand individual pieces of equipment, their application, benchmark performance and propose innovation. The PM will be focused on meeting the needs of our internal customers to deliver systems which are safe, easily maintainable, ergonomic and reduce manual labor.
During execution the PM will act as the main interface point for internal and external stakeholders. This person will be responsible for budget, quality, safety and schedule of the projects. Give accurate updates and risk forecast. Focus on cost-saving while ensuring quality and performance.
For this experienced project manager role there is a high level of autonomy to manage the projects E2E and develop versatility. The role will be based in Cairo, with expected travels within the AMET region, up to 50% per year.
Ability to speak multiple languages including English, German, French, Polish, Arabic, Turkish, Afrikaans and Zulu are considered preferred qualifications
Key job responsibilities
- End-to-end ownership for large-scale engineering projects (planning, design, procurement, installation, commissioning and qualification, launch support)
- Dive deep on technical details and provide value engineering and innovative solutions to drive frugality and continuous improvements
- Lead technical design reviews and propose design solutions for material handling and storage solutions that meet both business needs and internal standards
- Create, submit and track relevant CAPEX requests to ensure that all projects are delivered within budget and best overall value
- Assess and communicate project status, drive escalations on potential risks and delays across multiple teams
- Own the budget for the scope of the project. Give accurate updates and risk forecast. Gain savings while ensuring quality and performance
- Assist in providing equipment specifications and technical support to Procurement, Change Management
- Collaborate closely with various internal teams such as Construction, Operations, Reliability Maintenance Engineering, Procurement and Change Management
- Responsible for contractor management & teams up to approx 300 people in construction site
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, engineering technology or equivalent, or 5+ years of professional or military experience
- Experience with Logistic environment, and/or CAD design and/or Machine maintenance and/or Conveyance systems, and/or Storage systems and/or good lifts system

The Project Engineering Manager oversees engineering activities of the project considering the Quality/Cost/Time Delivery criteria.
She/He plans overall design activities, manages project design budget, implements design change process, supervises, and coordinates all engineering activities required to execute the project, whether done in house or by suppliers/subcontractors, and ensures technical coordination of the GE Vernova Grid Solutions projects. She/He warrants that optimized technical solutions (cost effective solution, ease of installation and operation of the systems) in line with Customer expectation are implemented by project engineering team and Partners, and that documentation are delivered as per project general time schedule.
Project Engineering Manager is accountable for the proper performance of design in matter of time spent, deadlines, and quality. Her/His field of intervention is linked to project strategy defined by Project Manager.
**Job Description**
**Roles and Responsibilities**
+ Manage global time schedule of concerned engineering activities, check coherency of links between engineering activities and other project functions activities (procurement, construction, commissioning) and organize follow up of critical activities of the project or of his/her discipline.
+ Responsible for issuing consolidation of provisional drawing list of the project or of his/her work package, integrating submission dates.
+ Plan and manage delivery time of technical interfaces with his/her work package, put in place exchange interface sheets with partners, customer, and third-party contractors.
+ Ensure on-time delivery of design to stakeholders with suitable quality including Partner documents anticipate and mitigate delivery issues of concerned activities.
+ Manage time schedule for his/her work package engineering activities in close collaboration with the planner.
+ He/she is responsible for relevant co-engineering sessions with other disciplines, main partners, and key suppliers.
+ Ensure the transverse technical coordination between the parties.
+ Ensure proper global design freeze.
+ Follow the division of responsibility matrix and understand the limits of supply.
+ Coordinate technical interfaces between project partners (internal and external).
+ Manage and harmonize the technical documentation.
+ Supports and participates to continuous improvement actions for a better engineering efficiency, delivers documents on time and with the requested quality.
+ Ensure that a proper technical risk analysis is conducted in case of innovation.
+ Manage the planning interface of engineering milestones between partners.
+ Lead and coordinate design teams.
+ Follow the engineering budget and identify potential savings and highlight to Project manager all motivated situation requiring extra budget.
+ Manage design workload plan.
+ Participate and contribute to the project multidisciplinary design reviews according to the procedures and the project strategy.
+ Organize and manage disciplinary design reviews.
+ Participate to project strategy elaboration with PM.
+ Analyze customer technical requirements, prepare and or consolidate clause by clause analysis and ensure compliance to Customer requirements through technical queries, identify, track, manage potential exceptions.
+ Manage customer comments.
+ Request/attend Customer technical meetings when needed/upon request.
+ Coordinate with partners regarding customer technical comments on their scope.
+ Validate design throughout customer acceptance.
+ Prepare or review technical specifications and supplier's documents to enable procurement of materials and substation detailed design.
+ Deploy Engineering tools associated to his/her work package as per strategy.
+ Integrate EHS requirements based on project strategy and deploy HAZID (Hazard identification) sessions at different project phases.
+ Implement KPIs defined on engineering process and provide support to elaborate project reporting.
+ Organize input data acquisition for Operation and Maintenance Manuals and as-built documents.
+ Comply with Quality Procedures, work instructions and Processes.
+ Provide data and inputs for project Return of Experience meetings.
+ Implement design freeze and EHS in design
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Degree in **_Electrical Engineering and/or Electrical & Electronics Engineering_**
+ **6+ years of Engineering activities as lead HV Substation Design Engineer**
+ Ensure compliance with relevant international standards such as IEC, IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, and CIGRE guidelines
+ Knowledge of Algerian Regulations, Standards, and Technical Requirements
+ Familiarity with the Algerian Electricity and Gas Law - notably Law 02-01 of February 5, 2002.
+ Understanding of CREG (Commission de Régulation de l'Électricité et du Gaz) rules and procedures.
+ Awareness of national grid codes, particularly for high-voltage installations.
+ Proven experience with technical requirements and specifications, especially for HV GIS substations
+ Knowledge of CCT (Cahier des Charges Techniques) documents
+ Experience with factory and site acceptance tests (FAT/SAT) as per protocols
+ Hands-on experience in HV GIS/AIS substations (132kV, 220kV, 400kV and above)
+ Successful experience in project technical management in a multi-disciplinary team's context including multiple interfaces and with products coming from several countries.
+ Knowledge of project execution risks and financial processes.
+ Willingness to work in different locations for short or medium period and to travel worldwide

1 People management 30% Local Monitor and support ME Team performance and results, support career planning, coaching and personal development

2 Projects management 30% Local/Regional Manage Portfolio and non
- Portfolio projects planning, scope, procurement, timing, budget and Execution

3 Process management 20% Local Manage and support plant ME Related SPQRCE activities (problem solving, Contracts, IDPM,.etc) to keep the plant running meeting the business targets,

4 GMI Communications 10% Regional Manage GMI regular communications, updates, benchmarking as well as technical committees meetings

5 Continuous improvement activities 10% Local Support the plant with new ideas to improve the current process in terms of SPQRCE

Knowledge, Skills, Experience, and Competencies

Education/Experience:

- B.Sc degree in Engineering
- Experience from 5 to 7 years
- Previous experience with Process and project management, people leadership

**Skills**:

- Good command of the English language spoken and written
- Good command of computer skills
- Excellent Technical skills in mechanical design
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent technical report writing

Competencies:

- Presentation Skills
- Timely Decision Making
- Managerial Courage
- Drive for Results
- Standing Alone
- Problem Solving
